What Is an I-9 Authorized Representative?

U.S. employers use Form I-9, Employment Eligibility Verification, to verify the identity and employment authorization of individuals hired for employment in the United States.

For remote employees, an employer may designate an authorized representative to perform certain Form I-9 duties on the employer's behalf, subject to the employer's procedures and applicable federal requirements.

When properly designated, Crown Pen Notary Services can meet with the employee, examine the required documentation and complete the employer-authorized portion of the verification process.

I-9 verification is not a notarial act.

Do you notarize Form I-9?

No. Completing Form I-9 as an authorized representative is not the same as performing a notarization. A notarial seal is not placed on the I-9 merely because the authorized representative is also a notary public.

Can you complete my I-9 if I work remotely?
